Dwayne Michael Carter Jr was born September 27, 1982. He is popularly referred to as Lil Wayne. Weezy is an American Hip Hop artist and author from New Orleans, Louisiana.

At age 9, Wayne became Cash Money Records’ youngest member. Dwayne went ahead to join Hip Hop group “Hot Boys” (Juvenile, B.G, Young Turk). The track “Bling Bling” is the popular slang, Weezy made famous. He has released several solo albums “The block is Hot” (1999), “Lights Out” (2000), “500 Degreez” (2002), “Tha Carter” (2004), “Tha Carter 2” (2005), “Tha Carter 3” (2008) and many more. Wayne made a lasting impression with his sixth album “Tha Carter 3”. The album had the remarkable singles “Lollipop”, “A Milli”, “Got Money” and “Mrs Officer”. I would never forget the video of “A Milli”, it was amazing. Tha Carter 3 earned universal acclaim from music critics “By and Large” with an average score of 84 from 26 reviews by Metacritic. To this day, the album has been certified Triple Platinum by RIAA with sales of 3.6 Million copies in the U.S alone.

In the critical breakdown, Weezy’s main strength is his wordplay. He has the ability to use one word for different references. On the track A Milli he goes “They say I’m rapping like Big, Jay and Tupac/Andre 3000 where is Erykah Badu at? It’s no wonder he slays it when featured on guest appearances because of his capacity to twist words, please listen to the track “My Generation” with Nas and Damian Marley, “Got a message from God/Heaven to crowded, but I say hey young world/ you never looked better/ and I heard change started with man in the mirror/this generation I’mma represent/a generation led by a black president/now how’s that for change/who knew that could change/I don’t even look at the flag the same”. Lil Wayne could also map out concepts and stories although; it’s not his strongest quality. Overall, Weezy’s body of work from the critical standpoint is above average.

Billboard ranked him 10th on their list of greatest rappers.

rapfact.com ranks him 40th with a score of 90 points.
